Highlighters & Contouring!

Define Your Features!

This blog post contains products to help define your features and create more definition to cheek bones, jawline and under brows to show off your beautiful bone structure!

Highlighters!

Benefit - High Beam Complexion Enhancer! - £19.50 (Boots)

My favourite highlighter! It’s a gorgeous pink satin colour that looks great on cheek bones and brow bone! The highlighter creates a radiant, fresh complexion which looks amazing when light hits the area you have applied the cream. I think it finishes off your make up look nicely and can notice the difference when I don’t apply it. I have had this bottle for over 6 months now and it still looks like I have hardly used it as you only need a small dot each time you apply! Fantastic product!

Collection – Illuminating Touch Concealer - £4.99 (Boots)

Although this is a concealer it does work well as a highlighter especially on the brow bone! I like using this for the brow bone due to the easy applicator brush and brightens up the area. Also it is a great use for when you have dark circles under eyes as a concealer and to help skin look radiant!

Stila - Kitten All Over Shimmer Powder - £15 (Boots)

Lovely shimmer powder that comes in a compact case with two shades that work well when mixed together as a highlighter on brow and cheek bones. You can use it as an all over powder for a soft shimmer look as well to help the skin look glowy and radiant. I also like that isn’t too shimmery and sparkly as at first with it being shimmer powder I didn’t know if it would be too sparkly instead gives a natural glow.

Sleek – Precious Metals Highlighting Palette - £9.99 (Superdrug)

I got this product recently and really enjoying it so far! It has four shades; three cream textures and one powder for highlighting. I love the lightest shade at brow bone and the other two cream shades as highlighters on the cheek bones and t zone. Would say this highlighting palette is definitely worth a try! Great range of highlighters for only £10.

Contouring Products!

Collection - Bronze Glow Matte - £ (Superdrug)

This bronzer is a great product for contouring as it isn’t too dark a shade and as it is matte is perfect to creating shadows and defining features! The powder is soft and blends well! For the price totally recommend!

Sleek – Face Contour Kit (light) - £6.49 (Superdrug)

I haven’t been using this contouring kit long but I have been loving it! The shade isn’t too dark in the light shade against my fair skin and the powder is soft and blends well. It comes in a neat compact with mirror and two shades of a lighter powder for highlighting – great for on the go! Helps to define my features and can’t imagine not applying it along with rest of my makeup especially when creating a more detailed look for my makeup! Again for the price it is definitely worth giving it a try!

A friend of mine (Michelle Craw) who is a brilliant makeup artist sent me some tips on highlighting and contouring, check out Michelle's Facebook page: Glam And Glitter & Instagram Page: Recklessbaby69 to see her amazing work!

Tips on contouring and highlighting:

1. I usually start off once I've prepped my face with benefit pore primer, benefit eye primer, then concealer blemishes and dark circles. Then conceal with powder to set....
2. Take a dark bronzer with no shimmer in it. And an angled blusher brush, and a thin contour brush and a fan brush.
3. I usually start under my cheek bones, so sick your cheeks in, where the crease is on your cheek blend the bronzer with your angled blusher brush, then extend the blend up on to your temples onto your sides of forehead and across the hair line.
4. Contour nose, take the fine contour brush and draw a line with the bronzer from bridge side of nose to the side tip of nose, and repeat for other side, also draw a line under tip of nose, and then blend. This will make your nose appear smaller.
5. Contour under your chin and jaw line with the angled brush and blend, also add a dust of bronzer to the neck to equalise the colour on your face to neck.
6. Add your blusher to the apples of your cheeks, and fill those brows in.

 Now Highlighting time.

 1. I like using a baked highlighter especially when I'm contouring with powder. Take your highlighter and dust a little on your top cheek bone under eye.
2. Dust in the middle of the nose from bridge to tip
3. Highlight center forehead, and eyebrow arch.
4. Highlight above the cupids bow of your lip under the nose.

This is how to Define your face in Easy Steps.
